South Bay Regional Public Communications Authority

Created by a Joint Powers Agreement between the Cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, and Manhattan Beach, the South Bay Regional Public Communications Authority (commonly referred to as “RCC” – Regional Communications Center) has provided high-quality, multijurisdictional emergency dispatching services since 1977. RCC processes approximately 300,000 police and fire incidents annually in the Southern California region in Los Angeles County known as the “South Bay”.

RCC also provides communications services under contract to the Cities of El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, and Culver City. South Bay Regional Public Communications Authority is dedicated to providing prompt, efficient, and cost-effective emergency services to the greater South Bay area.

Under general direction from the Executive Committee, the Executive Director is responsible for planning, organizing and directing RCC activities such as 9-1-1 police and fire dispatching, business development, human resources, finance, and technical services. The Executive Director is charged with ensuring the efficient and effective provision of services, including the management of sophisticated automated communications equipment, and participates in the establishment of short and long-term goals for the growth and development of the organization.

This position maintains close contact with the Executive Committee to address policy and procedure needs, as well as discuss the conditions and activities of the Authority. The South Bay Regional Public Communications Authority is seeking a highly engaged and forward-thinking leader with in-depth familiarity with public safety communications to serve as the Executive Director. The Authority is seeking an inspiring, high-energy and accessible leader with the proven ability to connect with employees and maintain a healthy and vibrant professional culture that attracts and retains outstanding talent.

The annual salary range for the Executive Director is $220,000 to $280,000; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
