Job Overview

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes and improving production efficiency. The position involves assisting in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, troubleshooting production issues, and contributing to process optimization.

Day In The Life
  • Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improving manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assuring product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Providing manufacturing decision‑making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Providing manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Managing capital projects from start to completion including writing AFEs (Authority for Expenditure).
  • Lead or assist in tool design and manufacturing process development.
  • Develop and implement cost‑saving projects. Participate in Lean events that drive productivity and cost improvement.
  • Lead quality improvement activities including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Work closely with product engineering on product changes and new product introductions.
  • Investigate and implement safety and ergonomic changes in the manufacturing setting.
  • Provide technical support and training to direct labor employees.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • AutoCAD, Inventor, and Microsoft Access experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing.
  • Knowledge of Lean practices in a manufacturing environment, with practical experience.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry/trigonometry.
  • Knowledge of database, design, development, internet, and manufacturing software, including ProE, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization; ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions.
  • Ability to travel on business related trips as needed.
  • Experience in tool design, tool build, and modeling.
  • 3‑5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
