Position: Reception Pit Opr SW Nights A Shift
Location: South West City

The Reception Pit Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the anaerobic digester reception pit which includes inspecting, weighing and conducting initial cleaning of material before they enter the digesters, which are systems that break down organic waste to produce biogas and digestate. This role involves a combination of monitoring, maintenance, and operational tasks to include the operation of equipment to ensure the optimal performance of the digestive process and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

ESSENTIAL

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to operate and monitor digesters, control the input of materials into the digesters, monitor equipment, gauges and charts related to digester performance (temperature, PH, biogas, etc.), perform light maintenance and adjustment tasks on digester equipment, troubleshoot and address operational issues, properly adjust production machines to ensure efficiency, quality and accuracy with minimal loss of product, daily set-up and operation of production machines and operating machines to production standards, maintain accurate inventory of supplies needed to operate the machine, document product specs and complete daily reports, forklift operation which requires a forklift license.

Coordinate with other personnel to ensure compliance with specifications.

Participates as a member of the Team

Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members. Attend appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger Organization.

Operating systems principles and objectives

Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities

Ability to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment. Ability to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift. Ability to climb stairs / fixed and vertical ladders occasionally, requires upper body and arm strength due to frequently claiming vertical ladders and having to pull up your own weight and not afraid of Hights.

Requires occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Utilize hand tools and shovel frequently throughout shift. Ability to identify and use PPE in accordance with SDS sheets. Must be able to pass a fit test, physical exam, and pulmonary function test (lung capacity) and serve on Hazardous response team.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

Some travel between Simmons facilities may be necessary.

Technical Experience

Industrial control and multiple heavy equipment experience skills preferred.

Industry Experience

Experience in wastewater treatment or anaerobic digestion is often preferred.
