Company Overview
Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of branded and private label charcoal, fire log, and fire‑building products. In addition, the company also manufactures railroad cross ties, strengthening our relationship with our suppliers in the charcoal business. Given the recent acquisition of the new business segment of Pine Mountain and Diamond brands, many changes are in process at the company, requiring enhanced leadership.
PositionSummary
The Treater is responsible for continuous‑treating railroad ties or other material and lubricating oils with chemicals, solvents, steam, clay, and hydrogen to remove impurities and to improve color, odor, and stability.
Job Responsibilities- Moves and sets levers, switches, dials, and hand wheels to admit products and treating agents to processing units in specified ratio and to direct flow of products through treating stages (mixing, precipitating, and neutralizing)
- Observes temperature gauges, pressure gauges, and flowmeters; records readings and compiles operating records
- Patrols unit to detect malfunctions and leaks
- Opens bleeder valves to sample products and (send to lab for testing, or to…) test for chemical characteristics, specific gravity, and color, or sends sample to laboratory for analysis
- Reprocesses products or pumps them to storage tanks, according to test results and laboratory recommendations
- Opens valves to drain sludge from units
- Assists with maintenance/repair by cleaning and lubricating equipment
- Operates loader with forks or bucket
- Power down system for cleaning the burner and cleaning boiler
- Power system up after cleaning
- Familiarity with safety practices and procedures related to treating chemicals and will hold workplace safety in high regard.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time (12 hours minimum)
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. continuously during shift, including twisting, turning, or bending with or without product/equipment in hand
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work in extreme environmental temperatures
- Casual manufacturing environment; comfortable attire appropriate for manual labor environment
