Role Profile

Job Title: Mushroom Harvester

Reports To: Harvesting Supervisor

Role Overview

Responsible for harvesting mushrooms according to customer product requirements, applying policies and procedures to maximize yield and optimize mushroom quality, and achieving performance targets set by the company.

Main Duties

  • Harvest mushrooms by hand as per customer specifications and product quality requirements.
  • Ensure that the products are of the highest possible standard, focusing on weights, sizing, stem length, punnet identification, and presentation.
  • Use the One Touch Picking Technique to maintain mushroom quality.
  • Operate an electrically driven picking trolley to harvest mushrooms, which involves working at height as the trolley moves up and down on shelves.
  • Follow Harvesting Standard Operational Procedures to maximize yield and preserve quality, including the Cardinal Rules of Harvesting.
  • Achieve performance targets during and after the probationary period as per the Company Training Program.
  • Participate in continuous training and assessments.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene standards in accordance with company rules and regulations.

    • Key Aspects of the Role

    • Manual handling tasks including lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying, and moving loads.
    • Standing, stooping, and bending for up to 12 hours per day.
    • Working at height.
    • Pushing picking trolleys.
    • Lifting punnets and crates (minimum of 2 at a time).
    • Working in a moist/humid environment.

    Good dexterity skills.

    Experience and Qualifications

    Previous harvesting experience is an advantage but not required.
