We're seeking an experienced upholsterer to join our team. In this role, you'll apply your skills in patterning, cutting, sewing, and finishing to produce high-quality custom seating. You should have prior upholstery experience, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Using power and hand tools, the Upholsterer will apply and install batting, foam, poly‑filler and cut fabric to wooden framework in the assembly of hand‑crafted millwork.
Job Duties / Responsibilities- Measure, cut, install, and secure material (leather, fabric) on frames using the correct tools (hand tools, power tools, glue, staples, etc.).
- Document material usage by job to ensure accurate inventory.
- Maintain work area clean and organized.
- Operate sewing machines or sew upholstery by hand to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material.
- Using power and hand tools, apply and install batting, foam, poly‑filler and cut fabric to wooden framework in the assembly of hand‑crafted millwork.
- Operate portable hand‑sewing equipment, nail guns, hobnail and tack hammers, hot‑knife cutters and other industrial equipment.
- Measure and cut fabric or leather pieces with the aid of patterns or stencils and industrial cutting tools to precise sizes and dimensions.
- Inspect wooden framework for defects and ensure repairs are completed prior to upholstery application and other finish work.
- Determine fabric inventory; provide status updates about fabric availability to manager.
- Other duties as required.
- Ability to use upholstery tools as well as other hand/power tools.
- Ability to hand and machine sew.
- Ability to read shop drawings (AutoCAD) and build products from it.
- Ability to work with a variety of fabrics and materials.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
Flexible hours are available; standard hours are M‑F 6:30 am – 3 pm.
