Overview
Nutrition Program Assistant - EFNEP - Kansas City at Lincoln University of Missouri
This role supports educating clients on healthy eating and nutrition and is focused on outreach, recruitment, and program delivery.
Responsibilities- Instruct clients in nutrition education.
- Engage in recruitment of clients such as those with limited resources, youth, families with children, pregnant women, and grandparents raising grandchildren.
- Coordinate with collaborating agencies to extend program outreach to eligible clients.
- Recruit, train, and utilize volunteers to assist in program marketing, data collection, program delivery, and reporting to the national database.
- Participate in health fairs and other community events.
- Establish and meet program standards for performance and positive impacts.
- The Nutrition Program Assistant works directly with the extension specialist and participates in community outreach to promote/encourage program involvement for eligible clients and complete required training and development opportunities as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree related to health education preferred.
- Two years of experience working with limited-resource persons required.
- Knowledge of community and social service programs for limited-resource families.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable personal transportation with liability insurance in effect is required and maintained throughout employment.
- Ability to travel throughout service area.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- May require extensive standing or walking.
- Should be able to move or lift objects weighing 20–50 pounds.
