Pediatric Registered Nurse Certified Diabetes Educator - 8hr Per Diem Days
Join Cedars‑Sinai as a Pediatric Registered Nurse Certified Diabetes Educator with an 8‑hour per day, 4‑day per week schedule to coordinate the Children’s Health Center Pediatric Diabetes Management Program.
Job DescriptionAs a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), you will assume responsibility for the coordination of the Pediatric Diabetes Management Program at the Children’s Health Center. You will develop, deliver, evaluate, and conduct diabetes management activities and education for hospital staff, patients, and families.
- Develop, deliver, evaluate and conduct diabetes management activities and education to hospital staff, patients and family members, including diabetes medications, insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, and other educational needs.
- Develop educational programs and materials related to diabetes management to meet the needs and interests of patients, families, nurses, staff, physicians, and the community.
- Partner with NP to conduct and participate in research focused on diabetes management across varied patient populations.
- Assist with validation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) components regarding best practices, discharge education and other documentation as needed.
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- BSN required; MSN preferred.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
- Current California State RN License required.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Certified Diabetes Educator certification (CDCES).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years recent acute RN experience.
- Two (2) years experience in diabetes/endocrinology preferred.
- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
- Demonstrated dedication to customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
