Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Surgical Orthopedics

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will deliver direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical competence and adhering to professional ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to support positive health outcomes.
• Conduct ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and ensure safety, communicating findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate closely with supervising RNs or shift managers to meet patient needs and maintain high standards of care.
• Document all patient care activities and quality measures accurately to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability within the care environment.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to improve their experience and provide necessary education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.

Experience:

At least one year of practical nursing experience is preferred.

Licenses and

Certifications:

• Current LPN license valid in the state or through compact licensure.
• Graduate Practical Nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting. Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is expected, along with occasional encounters with challenging individuals.
