American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatrics position requiring PALS certification and 2 years of experience on night shift at a teaching hospital.
Requirements- Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- PALS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and emergency medications
- Experience with respiratory care including oxygen delivery systems and oral/nasal suctioning
- Experience with GI care including feedings and NG tube management
- Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
- Pediatrics unit in a hospital setting, including Pediatric Med Surg, Pediatric Oncology, and Pediatric Step Down
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- 36 or 48 hour contracts available
- Cerner charting system preferred but not required
- Mandatory floating required, including serving as a Patient Observer (sitter) anywhere in the organization
- No on-call requirement specified
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients across medsurg, oncology, and step-down settings
- Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
- Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring rotating shifts and work during inclement weather
- Holiday coverage required for at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
- Weekend work required as assigned
- Maximum 10 days of RTO allowed, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted, though those within 50 miles are not eligible and those within 51-74 miles may be offered a local rate
- Local candidates are not eligible for extensions beyond the initial contract
