Veterinary Technician Medical Staff and Flow Manager - Mobile Veterinary Services

you’ll do

As the Registered Veterinary Technician Staff and Flow Manager, you will be a vital member of our mobile veterinary medical team. You will direct workflow, assist the veterinarian with medical treatments, and communicate with clients. You will work closely with the management team to coordinate the flow of work throughout the day, delivering high‑quality care and maximizing impact for animals in the communities we serve.

Compensation

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors. The target hiring range is $44.24 – $46.64 per hour. The position is eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus and a $1,000 retention bonus after one year of service.

Work Schedule and Location

This is a full‑time position, approximately 10 hours a day, 4 days a week (Monday–Friday) with flexibility to work sometimes beyond the scheduled day. The role is primarily based at the ASPCA Mobile Clinics throughout the Greater Los Angeles area; assignment to a particular mobile clinic may change based on operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Medical/Flow Management
    • Perform a broad range of veterinary technician functions, including venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation and assistance, diagnostics, pharmacy, and patient recovery.
    • Work side by side with staff veterinarians, technicians, and assistants to support both HQHVSN and PPC for cats and dogs.
    • Use low‑stress, gentle animal handling techniques.
    • Communicate effectively with clients — intake, obtain history, discharge patients.
  • Floor Management
    • Oversee workflow and ensure all medical staff efficiently use their time and skills.
    • Provide visible presence to answer questions, offer support, give feedback, and foster understanding and commitment to ASPCA’s mission.
    • Ensure staff deliver high‑quality patient care and adhere to CM’s SOPs and guidelines.
    • Coach staff to handle patients in a gentle, low‑stress manner and communicate effectively with clients.
    • Monitor drug logs, compliance with DEA regulations and CM protocols for controlled drugs.
    • Ensure staff take mandatory rest, meal breaks and adhere to time‑attendance guidelines.
  • Training
    • Train and onboard new nursing team members, including hands‑on skills training and weekly online modules.
    • Provide regular developmental feedback and coaching.
    • Assist with rotating interns, residents, veterinary students through coaching and demonstration.
  • People Management & Operations
    • Serve on the Mobile Leadership Team.
    • Create a culture of kindness, respect, belonging and teamwork through 1:1s, recognition, coaching, performance evaluation and feedback.
    • Manage scheduling, time‑attendance, hiring, and daily huddles.
    • Lead a culture of safety and security, reporting incidents promptly.
    • Assist with hiring, scheduling, and operational meetings.
