- Obtain vital signs and comprehensive medical histories for patients
- Assist with animal handling, administration of medications and provision of animal husbandry and nursing care
- Take and process diagnostic radiographs (X-rays)
- Collect and process lab samples for analysis (e.g., blood, urine, feces, cytology)
- Support the teaching and training of veterinary assistants
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records including histories, treatments, and medication logs
- Prepare patients for wet table surgical procedures including anesthetic induction, monitoring and recovery
- Ensure that all equipment is properly operating, maintained and sterilized
- Assist with clinic cleanliness and organization
- Greet, educate and support clients from arrival to discharge, and facilitate financial transactions in the exam room
- Graduate from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technician program
- Current California Veterinary Medical Board RVT License
- Pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE)
- Adhere to the ethical guidelines set by the veterinary profession
- Complete CE requirements to maintain a valid California RVT license
- 1+ years’ experience as an RVT preferably with an urgent care or emergency background
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical and surgical terminology and techniques
- Proficiency in animal handling and restraint
- Proficiency in collecting and processing lab samples for analysis (e.g., blood, urine, feces)
- Willing commitment to foster a confidence-building, collaborative work environment with all team members
- Disciplined mindset with an eagerness to participate on the clinic floor
- Friendly, proactive and helpful personality
- Mature communication skills, both with clients and team members
- Salary: $28-35 hourly
