Pet Stylist

Overview

Our Pet Stylists express their creativity as experienced pet groomers in our busy salons, focusing on grooming dogs (and cats too, if certified) of all sizes and temperaments to ensure they look their best. Additional responsibilities include brushing, trimming nails, and performing add‑on services.

• Consult with customers and comply with all requests to ensure customer satisfaction; always interact with customers in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
• Practice timeliness – start shift on time and finish pets before the promised time.
• Conscientiously perform all aspects of the grooming service to Best Friends expectations of quality.
• Have the ability to groom all breeds, style all fur types, and complete specific breed styles requested by the client.
• Work in an organized and hygienic manner; keep work area free of hair and clutter and sanitize tools and compartments between pets.
• Understand the purpose of products and use them appropriately, following label directions; assist the Manager in maintaining inventory by reporting stock levels.
• Treat equipment and tools with care and help with simple maintenance; report mechanical failures to the Manager in writing.
• Interact with the Manager and center staff in a manner that ensures the salon runs smoothly and meets the highest expectations of service and product quality.

• Minimum 1‑2 years of experience out of school or professionally trained.
• High school diploma.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must possess a love of animals and patience when handling pets.
• Display a professional manner at all times; be upbeat and positive.
• Dependable and have reliable transportation.
