JOB SUMMARY/

PURPOSE:

To perform maintenance duties and upkeep of grounds as assigned by the Plant Supervisor.

• Operate power driven equipment such as tractors, power lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, and similar equipment;
• Use tractor attachments as the job demands;
• Operate auxiliary mechanical equipment on the vehicles;
• Drive light truck or transport equipment;
• Load and unload materials and equipment
• Perform heavy and semi-skilled grounds maintenance and labor work;
• Cultivate, prune, spray, fertilize, and irrigate flowers, trees and shrubs; 11. Hoe weeds, rake leaves, sweep walks, and pick up debris as required;
• May assist in the preparation, maintenance and lining of baseball diamonds, football fields, tracks and other athletic fields.

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Have knowledge of and ability to operate ground equipment.
• Have ability to operate medium and large trucks and have a good driving record.

General Responsibilities:

• Operate grounds equipment including tractors, trucks, mowers and paint stripes.
• Repair fences.
• Layout and mark athletic fields.
• Apply weed killer and fertilizer on grounds.
• Clear tree limbs and fence rows.
• Move heavy objects, furniture and equipment.
• Trim trees and shrubs.
• Repair playground equipment.
• Build tie walls for playground areas.
• Patch concrete and asphalt.
• Perform preventive maintenance on grounds equipment.
• Plow and salt parking lots during the winter months.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

All Facilities Department positions are physically demanding and require the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, work off of ladders and scaffold, work in confined areas with frequent stretching, twisting, and bending. Specific job categories may be more strenuous and may require different physical abilities, but all jobs incorporate the above requirements.

School setting.

Drills, saws, grinders, routers, sanders, lathes, planners, jack hammers, welders, scissor lifts, key duplicators, torch, glass and tile cutters, hand, power tools tractors, dump trucks, mowers, weed eaters chainsaws, and hedge trimmers.
