Overview
The Groundskeeper reports to the Landscape Grounds Supervisor in the Facilities Services Environmental Resource Services Department at the University of California, Riverside. The Groundskeeper performs a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks campus-wide, caring for plants, shrubs, trees, hedges, flowers, lawns, and fields on the hard and soft landscapes. Responsibilities include watering areas by hand or via irrigation systems, performing minor irrigation repairs, and maintaining hard surface areas such as walkways, roadways, pavers, and stepping stones.
Groundskeepers assist with the integrated pest management program (IPM): control and eradication of insects, rodents, and weeds. During times of operational need, may perform other landscaping and refuse duties or assist with event setup/cleanup. The full salary range is $20.05 - $28.07 per hour; the realized minimum pay for this position is $25 per hour. Applicants must have current work authorization;

- Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks across the UC Riverside campus and grounds surrounding buildings, outdoor gathering areas, walkways, and entrances; maintain both hard and soft landscape features.
- C care for plants, shrubs, trees, hedges, flowers, lawns, and fields.
- Water areas by hand or via irrigation systems; perform minor repairs of irrigation systems.
- Vacuum, pressure wash, sweep, or blow down hard surfaces; install, repair, and maintain walkways, roadways, pavers, and stepping stones.
- Assist with the integrated pest management program (IPM): control and eradication of insects, rodents, and weeds.
- Assist with operational needs including event setup/cleanup and other landscaping or refuse duties as assigned.
The full salary range for the Groundskeeper is $20.05 - $28.07 per hour. Realized minimum pay for this position is $25 per hour. Qualifications- Educational Requirements: High School Diploma
- Experience Requirements: One year of experience maintaining grounds or landscaping; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using landscaping hand and power tools/equipment (mowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, chain saws, power blowers, vacuums, rototillers, saws, clippers, seed/fertilizer spreaders, high-pressure washers).
- Experience using mechanical tools required to maintain landscaping equipment.
- Experience managing and completing minor repairs on irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations governing job areas, including SB-198 Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Knowledge of UC policies, procedures, and systems.
- Knowledge and skill to use MS Office programs and email; ability to use desktops, laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices.
- Ability to prioritize work orders and routine tasks, and to select proper materials and equipment for safe, efficient work.
- Ability to perform heavy/physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work from ladders up to eighteen feet high and on building roofs up to four stories.
- Ability to work with hand and power tools common to landscaping; operate equipment with constant physical demands from ground level to overhead.
- Ability to work in conditions with high noise and require ear/eye protection; work around moving machinery; withstand extreme weather (heat, cold, rain); tolerate dust, pollen, fertilizers, and fumes.
