Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the EHS Manager in maintaining a safe, healthy, environmentally responsible, and regulatory-compliant workplace. This position partners with employees, supervisors, and leaders to identify and control risks, reduce occupational exposures, prevent injuries and illnesses, and support continuous improvement.
The role combines strong regulatory compliance with a proactive, employee-centered approach focused on operational excellence, risk management, and organizational learning.
- Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and workplace observations to identify risks and verify control effectiveness.
- Perform EHS recordkeeping and reporting activities, including the utilization of site safety management systems.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including new hire orientation, annual refresher trainings, and program-specific trainings.
- Collaborate across site functions to develop, implement, and manage programs, projects, and corrective actions that improve the safety of all employees and ensures regulatory compliance.
- Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, learning activities, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Assist with post-accident investigations and reports. Aids Supervisors in identifying possible root causes and hazards.
- Develop Lockout Tagout Verification procedures for site equipment.
- Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) to identify risk reduction measures.
- Maintain site Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and general chemical inventories.
- Support safety committees, emergency response teams, and workforce involvement programs.
- Coach supervisors and employees on hazard recognition, risk management, and safe work practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 1+ years of relevant experience required.
- Working knowledge of safety & environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, MDNR, DOT).
- Strong organizational, communication, and presentation/public speaking skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Familiar with manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand/walk for extended periods, work in an environment where chemicals and varying noise levels are present, work in an environment subject to variable temperatures (occasional work outdoors may be required), wear required personal protective equipment, and climb and descend stairs.
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 30, DOT HAZMAT, First Aid, CPR & AED Training. Ability to obtain required certifications within designated time frames may be considered.
