Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Supervisor is responsible for customer‑plant liaison, implementation and improvement of statistical methods, quality cost analysis, specification and procedure development, assisting with plant quality audits, and overseeing the day‑to‑day supervision of all hourly Quality Technicians in the department.

• Acts as liaison between Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering relative to customer specifications, quality requirements, and problems.
• Reviews customer complaints, analyzes returns and recommends corrective actions.
• Assists plants on quality improvement programs.
• Assists in conducting annual plant audits and systems surveys.
• Updates and augments group Quality Assurance procedures and systems.
• Assists application engineering and sales in development and application problems.
• Supervises daily quality operations, including incoming, in‑process and final inspections, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and customer specifications.
• Oversees metallurgical and mechanical testing activities such as hardness testing, tensile testing, microstructure evaluation, grain flow verification and failure analysis.
• Review and approve material certifications, heat‑treat records and special‑process documentation with a strong understanding of alloy behavior and metallurgical properties.
• Leads root‑cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem‑solving tools (8D, 5 Why, fishbone), incorporating metallurgical findings when applicable.
• Manages calibration and proper use of lab and inspection equipment including hardness testers, optical microscopes, tensile machines, torque testers and precision measurement tools.
• Ensures proper metallographic sample preparation, microstructure analysis and interpretation of results for process validation and nonconformance investigations.
• Verifies compliance with aerospace fastener standards related to mechanical properties, material composition and surface treatments.
• Continually strives to improve testing methods, tooling and equipment through statistical sampling to ensure adequate quality in our manufactured product.
• Works with engineering to develop simple and efficient methods of testing new product lines.
• Monitors all manufacturing processes through audits and daily evaluations to ensure processes are followed and short cuts are not taken.
• Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company records.
• Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
• Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
• Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
• Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
• Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
• Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
• Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
• Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
