This is a contract position located in Cameron, LA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and supervise surface preparation, painting, and insulation of structural steel, piping, valves, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards (e.g., ISO, SSPC, NACE).
  • Monitor environmental conditions during application and curing (humidity, dew point, temperature).
  • Verify proper storage, certification, and use of coating materials and consumables.
  • Review ITPs, coating procedures, and QA documentation.
  • Witness and document coating thickness, adhesion, and holiday testing.
  • Identify and report deviations, issue punch lists, and maintain detailed inspection records.
  • Collaborate with contractors and resolve technical quality issues.
  • Support final handover activities and participate in walkdowns.
  • Inspect materials, workmanship, and processes to verify conformance with specifications and industry codes, ensuring quality, compliance, and safety.
  • Collaborate with senior inspectors and project teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex challenges.
  • Exercise independent judgment in selecting work methods and making improvements, aligning with company policies and project goals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all inspections and reports.
  • Review work for completeness and accuracy, adhering to industry standards and promoting compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Offer occasional guidance and support to team members, sharing best practices.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an intermediate understanding of relevant systems, processes, and tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure adherence to project quality standards.
  • Identify and document non‑conformities, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Participate in quality audits and assessments, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on quality assurance practices, assisting teams in understanding and applying relevant procedures.
  • Support project execution by offering technical expertise in mechanical quality control.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection results, tests, and compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Experienced in coating and painting inspection for oil & gas or industrial infrastructure.
  • Certified as NACE Coating Inspector Level II or higher, or FROSIO Painting Inspector Level II or higher, or equivalent certification accepted by the employer.
  • Familiarity with ISO 8501, ISO 12944, SSPC, NACE, ASTM standards.
  • Skilled in reviewing technical documentation and interpreting test results.
  • Strong attention to detail and report‑writing skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • 10+ years of inspection experience.
  • Technical school graduate or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience in quality control or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality control inspections with a strong understanding of industry codes, regulatory standards, and best practices.
  • Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently and exercise sound judgment in dynamic project environments.
  • Proficiency in using tools, equipment, and systems specific to quality control inspections.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, engaging effectively with team members and stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Intermediate understanding of project systems, processes, and tools.
