FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Based in Reno, NV, the company has been in business for over nine years.
Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.
Responsibilities- Most inspections are exterior only and should take 5-6 minutes.
- Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
- Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9 or more photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in a mobile application.
- Be able to spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
- Computer with an internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, the equivalent hourly rate is approximately $30–$40
. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates, and higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
