Job Description

One postdoctoral position is available at the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation (TIBI). The TIBI develops personalized solutions using micro- and nanoscale technologies for therapies addressing organ failure, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The institute collaborates with clinicians such as interventional radiologists, cardiologists, and surgeons. Led by Dr. Khademhosseini, projects include engineering artificial tissues from patient-derived cells, organ-on-a-chip systems for mimicking human physiology, and developing novel biomaterials as sealants and adhesives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, or related fields.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment and collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentations and writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hydrogel synthesis, cell culture, 3D bioprinting, microfabrication, and animal studies.
  • Knowledge in immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, gene/protein expression.
  • Experience with various cell types and characterization techniques.
  • Skills in experimental design, microscopy, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of cancer biology is advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on biomaterials and tissue engineering, including synthesis and characterization of polymers, hydrogels, microfibers, and scaffolds for applications like bioinks, regenerative medicine, drug delivery, and tissue engineering.
  • Develop hypotheses, design experiments, analyze data, and publish findings.
  • Review current literature and contribute to review papers.
  • Present research at meetings and conferences, and publish in journals.
  • Assist in grant proposal development and fellowship applications.
  • Supervise and train research personnel.
  • Maintain lab equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve scientific and clinical problems.
