The Panopoulos Laboratory studies fundamental and clinically relevant questions at the intersection of stem cell biology, blood cell development, and cancer. The long-term goals are to harness stem cells for innovative and clinically relevant advances in targeted cancer therapeutics and regenerative medicine. The laboratory focuses on human somatic cell reprogramming to identify embryonic mechanisms exploited in cancer and to discover fundamental aspects of normal and aberrant hematopoietic development.

Are you ready to be a part of breakthrough research?

• Plan and conduct experiments with pluripotent stem cells and cancer cells.
• Work independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists.
• Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures during the training period.
• Analyze and interpret data; develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of grant proposals (not responsible for generating grant funds).
• Participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author when applicable.
• Design and perform experiments, maintain appropriate records, and analyze results with the Principal Investigator.
• Operate and maintain equipment and instruments.
• Engage with research subjects or human-related interactions as applicable to the project.

Education: Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in a field related to the research specialization.

Experience and Skills:

• 1-5 year post-doctoral experience with the ability to work independently on projects designed by a mentor in the area of specialization.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: primary and mammalian cell culture, immunofluorescence/imaging analysis, basic techniques in cell biology and biochemistry.
• Experience in organ-on-chip and/or cell signaling is a plus.
• Ability to perform experimental protocols with detailed data collection, analysis, and operation/maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Scheduling flexibility, including evening, weekend, and holiday rotation; travel may be required.
• Team-oriented collaboration with faculty, research staff, technicians, and students.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
