Research Assistant, Biological Sample Processing (Part Time)

E11 Bio is on a mission to advance connectomics towards whole brain scale for humans and other mammals. We are a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers engaged in a neuroscience moonshot project to develop a radical technology platform for scalable mammalian brain mapping. E11 Bio is a non-profit Convergent Research focused research organization located in Alameda, California, pursuing blue-skies neuroscience research yet operating like a nimble, tight-knit start-up.

E11 is seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to support the team in generating and processing biological samples for our moonshot mission of developing novel technologies for scalable whole-brain connectomics.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing of brain tissue and hydrogel samples (including sample sectioning)
  • Evaluation of brain sample quality by fluorescence microscopy
  • Experimental validation of staining reagents
  • Documentation of biological samples and reagents via Notion databases
  • Close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to facilitate experiments based on your work

    Required qualifications:
  • Coursework or experience in biological and/or medical sciences (molecular biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, etc.), training as a biological technician or equivalent working experience
  • Experience with basic molecular biology laboratory techniques (e.g. biological sample preparation, immunohistochemistry, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Willingness and ability to quickly pick up new processes and adapt to changing needs

    Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with or interest in fluorescence microscopy
  • Experience with or interest in tissue sectioning
