Overview
PATH is seeking candidates passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Interim Housing team as the Cook at the RHC location in Los Angeles, CA.
Base pay range: $21.71/hr - $26.36/hr pay Frequency: 24 Pay Periods Per Year. Full Time, Tuesday through Saturday, shifts available 6:00am to 2:30pm and 11:30am to 8:00pm. Non-Exempt;
Driving Required. Lower end of range for candidates with minimum experience; higher end for more experience.

PATH is a non-profit organization (People Assisting The Homeless) that provides services to help people experiencing homelessness. The role supports the Interim Housing team by preparing three meals per day and snacks for guests, while collaborating with kitchen and case management staff.
Responsibilities- Provide guests with a home-like environment during their stay in PATH Interim Housing.
- Promote and follow interim housing values, guidelines, and rules.
- Cook large quantities of food with staggered cooking, heating, and baking; prepare food and beverages according to standardized recipes, production sheets, and menus.
- Organize duties so foods are prepared for service at appropriate times and within temperature guidelines.
- Follow therapeutic menu sheets and meal forms; set up and serve on tray line; operate and maintain all equipment safely and sanitaryly.
- Receive, verify, and stock away supplies; follow cleaning procedures per schedules; maintain sanitary conditions during all food preparation and delivery.
- Oversee meal preparation in the absence of the chef and Lead Cook.
- Manage perishable and nonperishable items, including labeling, rotation, and safe disposal.
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and visually appealing.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to Gather and interpret data to inform decisions and produce high-quality work.
- Collaboration and teamwork; ability to work effectively with colleagues, participants, and stakeholders.
- Communication skills (verbal and written) to convey information clearly.
- Creativity and initiative; proactive, willing to take on additional responsibilities.
- Critical thinking and problem solving; analyze information and make sound decisions.
- Ethics and professional boundaries; maintain honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
- One year of experience in a paid culinary setting.
- Current Food Handling Certificate or ability to obtain one.
- All levels of education and experience are welcome.
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification (paid for by the Company).
- Flexible hours, which may include evenings or weekends.
- Employment eligibility verification; ability to perform work in California.
- Successful completion of background screening and drug test; updated Tuberculosis test.
- Driving is an essential function of this position. Requirements: reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used, and eligibility for PATH's insurance coverage.
