Sage is a from-scratch cafe in downtown Columbia focused on thoughtfully made food, French-inspired pastry, and craft coffee. We care about quality ingredients, attention to detail, and creating an experience that feels special without feeling fussy.

Our team takes pride in the craft behind what we serve, from freshly baked pastries to carefully prepared coffee and food.

We’re looking for an experienced Baker to join our kitchen team and help produce the baked goods and pastries our guests enjoy each week.

This is a hands‑on production role for someone who understands the rhythm of a professional kitchen, works efficiently and consistently, and takes pride in the details. Experience working with laminated doughs is strongly preferred.

This role includes early‑morning shifts beginning around 5:00 a.m., so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable starting their day early. Weekend availability is also important.

• Prepare and bake pastries and other baked goods according to Sage recipes and standards
• Mix, shape, proof, score, bake, and finish products with consistency and attention to detail
• Work efficiently through daily production and prep lists to ensure products are ready for service
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and finished products
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Care for baking equipment and help keep the kitchen clean and ready for production
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and cafe teams and pitch in where needed

• Previous baking experience in a professional or production environment
• Experience with laminated doughs strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of baking techniques, measurements, timing, and food safety
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining consistency and attention to detail
• Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently when needed
• A collaborative attitude and willingness to support the broader Sage team

This role includes shifts beginning around 5:00 a.m. and requires the ability to work early mornings. Weekend availability is important, along with strong, reliable availability to support production needs.
