Retail Sales Associate Part Time

Overview

Pet Smart’s Retail Sales Associate (Part Time) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences, and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. The role also involves store cleanliness, maintenance, and pet safety standards, as well as direct care of store-owned pets.

• Enhance the pet parent experience in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup and ensure a smooth pickup experience.
• Provide care for store-owned pets (feeding, watering, cleaning habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, crickets, and fish).
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Assist with weekly price changes and monthly promotional pricing.
• Stage, sort, and replenish new products to match sales floor plans.
• Provide product recommendations and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events such as adoption weekends, Treats enrollment, and charity events.
• Ensure a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents.
• Take immediate action when a sick or injured pet is identified and transport to a veterinarian as needed.
• Assist across store areas (including services) as required. Other duties may be assigned.
• Participate in the culture of Belonging and Recognition and follow all company policies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility in schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, and write. Ability to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Visual acuity required; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; team lifting may be required.
• Work environment includes pet hair, variable noise levels, and exposure to live animals.
