About the Role

As a Store Manager Trainee, you’ll train on all aspects of running a store in preparation for running your own store. You’ll supervise day‑to‑day store activities, ensuring overall performance, identifying staffing needs, managing schedules and developing operational action plans while mentoring and developing the team.

Starting Wage: $29.50 per hour

Year 1 Earning Potential: Up to $89,500 (salary & bonus)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistently demonstrate the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies and Professional Skills (M.A.P.).
  • Supervise day‑to‑day operations and performance of the team to provide highest level of customer service.
  • Communicate and model core company values, creating teamwork and membership among employees.
  • Handle customer concerns and ensure appropriate resolution.
  • Ensure proper store signage and product quality/freshness.
  • Assist in hiring by reviewing resumes, applications and interviewing candidates.
  • Prepare, manage and revise weekly schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
  • Conduct store meetings.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend advancement or termination.
  • Achieve store payroll and total loss budgets.
  • Manage cash audits per company guidelines.
  • Monitor competitive environment and recommend adjustments for competitive positioning.
  • Provide product feedback to direct leader on new items or discontinuations.
  • Provide safe environment for employees, customers and vendors; identify and rectify hazards.
  • Oversee product merchandising and maintain stock levels through product ordering.
  • Conduct store inventory counts and reconciliations per company guidelines.
  • Comply with all company policies while upholding security and confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Stock merchandise from receiving to shelving; lift products up to 45 lbs.
  • Sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry and walk throughout the store.
  • Perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Job Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older to be employed at ALDI.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to lead prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to build rapport and open communication for growth.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Goal setting and performance guidance.
  • Drive performance of self and others.
  • Understand budgeting, personnel costs and expenses.
  • Operate cash register efficiently and accurately.
  • Operate equipment safely (electric/manual, floor scrubber, baler).
  • Stay organized and multi‑task efficiently.
  • Meet state/local requirements for handling and selling alcohol.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years progressive retail experience.
  • Equivalent knowledge from combination of education and experience.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
Travel

Full‑time trainees may train at multiple locations and may need to travel within divisional requirements.
