Overview
This position is responsible for working with the Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the store and ensure all team members are executing the Gold Standards of Operational Excellence. It directs the operational activities of the entire store in the absence of the manager and provides positive leadership to the team. The role oversees the Softline Departments, which consists of Sporting Goods & Gun Counter, Consumables, and Plants.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Provide customers with World Class Customer Service through friendly, quick, and accurate assistance.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of all store staff, recommending measures to improve performance and increase efficiency.
- Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
- Responsible for training and coaching, new and existing, team members to the Gold Standard.
- Assist in planning, directing, and coordinating safety and loss prevention programs.
- Help to oversee Table & Endcap Programs and Store Scheduling.
- Assist in the analysis of financial impacts of risks on the company within authority, managing inventory and implementing appropriate techniques to minimize shrink.
- Perform basic job functions such as register operation, scanning, price changes, setting ads, merchandising, checking in freight, in-store pickup, some bookkeeping, managing the utilization of the Learning Management System, as well as operating a pallet jack and tow motor.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to identify, plan and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater profit and efficiency.
- Work closely with Scanning Coordinators, Bookkeepers, and Inventory Specialists to ensure pricing, inventory, and accounting accuracy.
- Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays at a minimum of 45 hours per week.
- Lifting capability up to and including 80 lbs.
- Ensure all Federal and State guidelines are being followed with respect to the sale of firearms.
- Review and Audit Firearms inventory and 4473 forms on a weekly basis for accuracy.
- Complete special projects as directed by the Store Manager. Additional responsibilities may be assigned throughout the store at any given time.
- Ideal candidate must have at least 3-5 year’s retail experience.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop and train store personnel.
- Must be 21 years of age and have a valid FOID card (if Illinois Resident).
