Retail Cashier

MERS / Goodwill Industries – Fenton Store – Hourly Part‑time, 0% travel, hourly rate $15.50 with up to $250/month bonus.

Qualifications

No degree required. High School Diploma/GED preferred. Must communicate effectively with co‑workers, customers, and management. Must be organized, capable of working with a diverse population. Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities
  • Greet and acknowledge customers as they enter the store, assist on the sales floor, and answer the phone within three rings with a professional greeting.
  • Operate the store cash register: cash handling, credit card transactions, appropriate discount returns, and cash register balancing.
  • Stock, straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the entire store area efficiently and to standard.
  • Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
  • Uphold store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.
  • Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership and work cross‑functionally with other teams to increase communication.
  • Utilize safe work practices through awareness and observation.
  • Contribute to ensuring the workplace is hazard‑free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and designated walkways debris‑free.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to MERS/Goodwill's dress code.
  • Safeguard agency assets, including cash, donated items, and purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft. Report any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of agency assets.
  • Adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, Goodwill Retail procedures, and safety and security regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
