Who We AreGolden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.
Where We AreGolden Queen Employees live in several surrounding communities such as Boron, California City, Lancaster, Mojave, Palmdale, Ridgecrest, Rosamond, Tehachapi, and Victorville.
Mojave is known as the city of “Golden Crossroads” because it is located at the nexus of the California Highways 14 and 58. You possess a solid understanding of mining procedures and hazards in an open-pit environment, with familiarity in mining and geology terminology.
This is a safety sensitive position. As the Ore Control Geologist you report to Chief Geologist.
What You Do- Perform pit and blast pattern mapping of alteration, lithology, structure and material types, interpret and digitize it.
- Provide safe and timely geological mine services with pit wall and blastholes mapping, grade control, hard vs. soft ore routing.
- Download and analyze blasthole assay data integrated with blasthole mapping to block out ore and waste splits in Mine Sight /Leapfrog, with focus on minimizing dilution and optimizing gold/silver grade.
- Conduct detailed geological analysis of the block model against ore control polygons to offer guidance on grade and waste control matters.
- Determine hard and soft ores for effective blending and optimal placement on the leach pad.
- Account for blast heaves and displacement when designing ore and waste splits.
- Oversee blasthole sampling to ensure that representative samples are collected.
- Analyze mine site lab QA/QC monthly and weekly housekeeping protocols.
- Provide geological guidance for short-term and long-term planning.
- Digitize pit maps into Mine Sight/Leapfrog for inclusion in the geologic block model.
