* based on 12hour field day

Job Purpose

The Lead Geologist’s primary role is to provide geological and field management expertise by managing and participating in field mineral exploration programs for Ground Truth Exploration Inc. and companies we contract our services to. The Lead Geologist will be responsible for ensuring that all field programs are managed effectively, efficiently and safely. The Lead Geologist will oversee and participate in daily fieldwork activities within their specific technical department on site, with the help and mentorship of the Project Geologist.

This role requires leadership to promote a team-based culture of excellence that responsibly delivers sustainable value and growth for the Ground Truth team and the companies we support. Ongoing mentorship and growth within the company will be provided by the Senior Geologist and Project Geologist for continued professional development.

Job Overview

The job will primarily involve fieldwork during active exploration projects; and remote, office-based during the off-season with assistance in hiring, SOP management, and any other technical or operational needs. The job will involve fieldwork during active exploration projects, with a rotation-based schedule of approx. 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off
* subject to change based on program needs, weather or other logistical constraints .

The Lead Geologist will report directly to the Senior Geologist and the Project Geologist once their role within Ground Truth has been established by spring 2025.

Operational Responsibilities

Technical and Operational Reporting to Senior Geologist for winter 2025, transitioning to Project Geologist in spring 2025

Conducting interviews for hiring field staff to assist the Project and Senior Geologists

Assisting in training of any field staff for geological, drilling and surficial programs with the guidance of the Project Geologist

Oversee fieldwork activities including geological mapping, prospecting, sampling, geophysical surveys and drill programs on grassroots exploration programs.

Participate in exploration activities including geological mapping, prospecting, sampling, geophysical surveys and drill programs on grassroots exploration programs.

Ensure that sample shipments are properly documented and shipped on a timely and consistent basis

Ensure that data collected by GTE field staff is accurate according to protocol and properly archived

Maintain systems and procedures required for the execution of all technical aspects of exploration programs, including prospecting and mapping field protocols, data collection methods and QA/QC

Collaborate in the development of geological, geochemical and geophysical, technical procedures and SOP development for all key tasks to ensure they are standardized, fit for purpose and exceed industry standards.

Prospecting and mapping of target areas, geochemical sampling (rock, soil, silt, till)

Train GTE staff and contractors on all the Companies Health and Safety Protocols and procedures, and ensure the protocols and procedures are upheld at all times.

Keeping daily timesheet up to date

Ensuring on time timecard approvals for field staff

Other duties as assigned

Safety and Integrity Responsibilities

Ensure GTE staff and contractors follow all the Companies Health and Safety protocols and procedures.

Reporting all Hazards, Near Misses, Close Calls, Incidents, Injuries and Non-Conformances.

Adhering to all Safety Employee Rights and Responsibilities; including but not limited to, refusal of any unsafe work, whilst working towards a safe alternative.

Working competently, safely and professionally at all times: in the field, in camp and transit. Participating in daily Safety Meetings as well as After Action Shift summaries, and all Emergency Response Plans (ERP).

Wearing and maintaining all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Ensure Ground Truth’s core values of social and environmental responsibility are visibly upheld to our clients, local communities and stakeholders to promote trust and a positive reputation.
