Hourly/Day Rate: $200-350/day
* based on 12hour field day
The Geophysical Technician’s role is to traverse remote, undiscovered territory and collect valuable data by conducting geophysical fieldwork and performing other specialized field support work on different projects. The Geophysical Technician will work daily to collect and interpret geophysical information. This role’s critical contribution to the success of the company is to yield acute, consistent and accurate geophysical data that can be relied upon to identify and target areas of interest, leading to future drill programs and potential discovery of large mineral deposits.
This role requires initiative to promote a team-based culture of excellence that responsibly delivers sustainable value and growth for the Ground Truth team and the companies we support. Ongoing mentorship and growth within the company will be provided by Lead Geologist and Senior Geophysicist for continued professional development.
Job Overview & Direct ReportThe job will involve fieldwork during active exploration projects, with a rotation-based schedule of approx. 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off
* subject to change based on program needs, weather or other logistical constraints . The Geophysical Technician will report directly to the Lead Geologist on site.
Technical and Operational Reporting to the Lead Geologist
Participating in daily fieldwork activities including IP, ground mag, VLF, and other geophysical data collection on grassroots exploration programs.
Assisting the Exploration Geologist to ensure that field data collection is accurate according to protocol and properly uploaded daily
Participate in the daily execution of all technical aspects of exploration programs, including field protocols, data collection methods and QA/QC
Manage company tech gear to ensure it is charged and operational
Keeping daily timesheet up to date
Maintain company field gear to ensure it is well-kept and functional for field use
Other duties as assigned
Safety and Integrity ResponsibilitiesEnsure all the Companies Health and Safety protocols and procedures are followed.
Reporting all Hazards, Near Misses, Close Calls, Incidents, Injuries and Non-Conformances.
Adhering to all Safety Employee Rights and Responsibilities; including but not limited to, refusal of any unsafe work, whilst working towards a safe alternative.
Working competently, safely and professionally at all times: in the field, in camp and transit. Participating in daily Safety Meetings as well as After Action Shift summaries, and all Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
Wearing and maintaining all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ensure Ground Truth’s core values of social and environmental responsibility are visibly upheld to our clients, local communities and stakeholders to promote trust and a positive reputation.
Ensure professional conduct while on the project and when in nearby communities.
Be aware to ensure confidential matters are held as such and ensure transparency on communications to Ground Truth Management where appropriate.
Camp ResponsibilitiesThe Geophysical Technician is responsible for
Participating in maintaining a sanitary, safe and organized camp to foster an environment that
respects the well-being and health of all camp members.
Assisting with the assembly and tear down of wall tent camps to ensure safe and efficient
Collaborating with camp members to share in the upkeep and daily chores of the camp including but not limited to cooking, cleaning, collection of firewood and collection and filtering of water to achieve a cohesive living environment with a fair distribution of camp chores.
Maintaining all camp equipment so it is available and working when needed. Ensuring all
electronic tools for the job (ie handheld devices and ICOM radios) are fully charged and ready
for the work day each morning.
