JOB SUMMARY

Under limited supervision, the Security Officer provides security and protection of work sites, personnel and assets at the assigned job site. Enforces safety measures, performs regular patrols of assigned premises, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of prior security, military, or law enforcement experience. Formal education or training may substitute required experience.
• Able to speak, read, understand and write English
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Reliable transportation. Driver’s license preferred.
• Unarmed Security Officer License or ability to obtain.
• Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC) or ability to obtain.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post‑offer physical.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide customer service and safety procedures.
• Execute post orders and enforce policies.
• Access control and visitor badge processing.
• Operate gate traffic barriers and conduct vehicle screenings.
• Monitor traffic, parking and guard property.
• Carry out patrols of buildings and grounds.
• Display courteous and professional interactions.
• Operate CCTV if trained.
• Respond to incidents calmly and efficiently.
• Use two‑way radio or telephone for communication.
• Investigate disturbances and report irregularities.
• Write Daily Activity Reports and Incident Reports.
• Assist in emergencies and maintain safety standards.
• Maintain high standards for appearance and cleanliness.
• Follow dress code/uniform requirements.
• Report accidents and injuries promptly.
• Work in constant alertness to maintain safety.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Participate in safety meetings and trainings.
• Maintain punctual attendance and varied schedule including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Attend required training programs.
• Potentially perform Lead Security Officer duties.
• Perform other assigned duties.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
:
The employee will work in a confined workspace such as a security guard post or patrol vehicle for extended periods, with 12‑hour days, working day or night shifts as required in an industrial setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
:
Routine walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling and carrying items up to 50 lbs. Candidates must complete a post‑offer pre‑employment physical.
