Position: Diesel Mechanic (Experienced)

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
  • Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
  • Pre-delivery setup and installation on all makes and models of Caterpillar equipment and allied products.
  • Repair, replace or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross-shafts, hydraulic components including pumps, motors, valves, and all related components, electrical and air systems.
  • Write service reports that accurately document activities.
  • Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years' experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
  • Must have valid Driver's License
  • Proficient computer skills knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if operating properly
  • Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
  • Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to light to heavy duty vehicles and equipment
  • Perform safety inspections of vehicles and equipment and prepare safety documentation required
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
  • Interact with colleagues and vendors through both email and phone as necessary
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Ability to move and position heavy objects
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is subject to frequently kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds. These physical demands must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Compensation

$34.00 - $43.00 hourly, dependent on qualifications and verifiable experience.
