Carpenter, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Order parts and materials for ongoing repairs and projects.
• Estimate materials and costs for carpentry projects.
• Build walls for classrooms and offices, including all aspects of construction.
• Repair drywall, plaster, masonry, and all other walls.
• Read and comprehend blueprints and drawings.
• Sketch and prepare drawings for projects, permits for walls, doors, etc.
• Design and construct cabinetry, tables, counters, booths, etc.
• Install doors, door jambs, and hardware.
• Install and repair plaster, drywall, and suspended ceilings.
• Install and repair siding and guttering.
• Install and repair vinyl, quarry, ceramic, laminate, carpet, and other flooring.
• Install and repair windows and window treatments.
• Ability to weld equipment and materials using arc, MIG, and TIG welders.
• Repair EPDM, slate, built-up, modified, and other roofs.
• Snow and ice removal using district truck and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

NOTE: All Facilities Department positions are physically demanding and require the ability to lift up to 100 lbs., work off ladders and scaffolding, and work in confined areas with frequent stretching, twisting, and bending. Specific job categories may be more strenuous and require different physical abilities, but all jobs incorporate these requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience.
• Carpentry skills.
• Carpenter’s Joint Apprenticeship Program Certification preferred.
• Experience in general building maintenance.
• Ability to work safely from ladders, scaffolding, and high areas.
• Good attendance and work record.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Possess initiative and motivation.
• Willing to work overtime and on-call for emergencies.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
