Overview
This position is expected to lead the activities of the maintenance department to ensure that equipment is being properly repaired, maintained, and available upon customers request. Supervisor oversees preventative maintenance and service programs and ensures compliance with corporate policies and government regulations.
Responsibilities- Supervisor coordinates activities of 15+ employees involved in vehicle maintenance.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Manage and prioritize the tasks of 15+ mechanics.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Reviews all work orders, service reports, labor time sheets and material requests for accuracy before submitting to clerk for action.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Maintains harmony among workers.
- Oversees the job sites to ensure all safety precautions are being implemented.
- Inspects work site during and after completion to determine quality and completeness.
- Completes In-House Quality control reviews, spot checks, note changes for improvement.
- Supervise parts and inventory ordering to increase mechanic efficiencies.
- Communicate with management regarding employees conduct and handle disciplinary action as needed.
- Assist in hiring and staffing needs by interviewing and selecting qualified candidates for hire.
- Conduct safety meetings.
- Ensure Shop Cleanliness and Safe work environment.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Note: US citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five or more years’ experience and specific knowledge in vehicle maintenance, either through schooling, to include a formal apprenticeship or equivalent, and/or verifiable on-the-job experience.
- Must know theory and principles of engine operations and accessories and components.
- Must have or be able to obtain site forklift and other licenses/certifications as needed to perform duties.
- Must have a valid and current state driver’s license.
- Must be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle. Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate a diverse range of vehicles.
- Must be able to complete paperwork associated with vehicle maintenance and repairs. Must be able to manipulate and use hand tools and hydraulic equipment.
- Must have the ability to read, interpret, and apply Technical Manual instructions, publications, and safety rules.
- Must be able to read, interpret, and use vehicle maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components. Oversee and utilize the preventative maintenance program. Approve vendor invoices.
- Supervise parts and inventory ordering to increase mechanic efficiencies.
- Communicate with management regarding employees and handle disciplinary action as needed.
- Assist in hiring and staffing needs by interviewing and selecting qualified candidates for hire.
- Conduct safety meetings.
- Ensure shop cleanliness and a safe work environment.
- Oversee tracking and submitting reimbursements for warranties.
- Oversee purchasing practices to follow government guidelines.
- Determine level of expertise / capabilities of mechanics vs. third party repairs accordingly.
- Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
- Computer literate with experience using MS Office.
- Position may require travel.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Maintenance and repair of military tactical vehicles, as well as lawn mower (push, riding, zero turn), ATV, side by side, HMMWV, light wheeled trailers, LMTV, FMTV, medium wheeled trailers.
- ASE and/or Diesel Mechanic Certifications.
- Experience in field repairs and recovery.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
