Overview

PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) Interim Housing team is seeking a part-time Safety Support Associate at the YWCA location in Los Angeles, CA. PATH focuses on homelessness prevention, street outreach, and supportive housing services. The role centers on maintaining a safe environment at the Interim Housing site and supporting safety and security operations.

Salary: $21.71 to $26.36 per hour

Pay frequency: 24 Pay Periods Per Year

Two days per week; schedule options and benefits supporting work/life balance.

PATH is seeking candidates who are passionate about helping others and who can engage with participants, staff, and partners to promote safety and security at the Interim Housing site.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with ensuring the overall safety of the interim housing site using observation, de-escalation strategies, and ongoing participant engagement.
  • Coordinate with the onsite case management team to provide support to the interim housing site.
  • Coordinate with contracted security agencies (if applicable) to ensure the safety of the interim housing site.
  • Conduct regular rounds of the interim housing site and facility grounds and communicate and observed discrepancies or concerns.
  • Assist the Associate Director with drafting written documentation and correspondence regarding the safety and security of the site.
  • In collaboration with supervisors and the case management team, respond to security and crisis situations using non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation strategies, including a team approach.
  • Assist with the development of forms, procedures, and manuals for the Metro LA Interim Housing.
  • Assist with completing reports as necessary or requested.
  • Attend meetings and provide input and feedback related to safety and support operations.

Qualifications
  • Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year experience working with vulnerable populations and/or security and/or de-escalation/nonviolent crisis intervention.
  • Minimum Qualifications: All levels of experience and education welcome.
  • Mandatory Requirements: Must have employment eligibility verification; must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid training; must complete tuberculosis test, background screening, and drug test as a condition of hire.
