Staff Engineer (Spring Serve Ad Server) – Magnite

Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid – Monday & Friday remote, Tuesday–Thursday in‑office). Our hybrid schedule allows us to support a high‑throughput, low‑latency ad serving system that processes hundreds of billions of requests per day.

We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Spring Serve Ad Server team where you will work on a globally distributed ad serving system that handles hundreds of billions of requests a day. You have the opportunity to take on project initiatives to improve the delivery of our systems, tackle hard technical challenges, and contribute to a small team of passionate individuals.

• Act as an expert technical contributor in a talented, high‑output development team
• Participate in the back‑end design, development, testing, release, and maintenance of critical ad‑serving applications
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Design and implement reliable, maintainable solutions to challenging problems as a creative problem‑solver
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and project plans
• Write production‑ready code and unit tests that meet system and business requirements
• Respond to feature requests, bug reports, performance issues, and ad‑hoc questions
• Collaborate with multiple teams to deliver quality software
• Leverage AI‑assisted tools in your development process
• Support the operation of services in testing environments and production
• Perform design and code reviews

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of relevant software development experience
• Experience where project success was heavily dependent on your design, development, and leadership contributions
• Primary experience in Java for high‑throughput, low‑latency back‑end web services; knowledge of asynchronous programming, high concurrency, and frameworks such as Vert.x or Dropwizard
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and the ability to evaluate trade‑offs
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot, Cursor, Claude)
• Experience with CI tools, Maven, Git, Docker, build systems (Code Build, Jenkins) and issue trackers (Jira)
• Unit testing skills
• SQL and relational‑database design (Postgre

• Ability to context‑switch and manage competing priorities

• Experience with header‑bidding technologies in a production ad‑tech environment
