PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $5,787.00 per month to $7,1795.00 per month (Step 1 - Step 12).

Software Developer I

Cal State East Bay's beautiful main campus is located in the Hayward hills with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay shoreline. This is a temporary position through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment.

This position supports the planning, designing, developing, implementing, administering, supporting, and upgrading software applications to support faculty, staff, and the University’s student success initiatives under the guidance of senior developers and the supervisor, when needed. This position contributes to the software development work across all stages of the software development lifecycle. Using programming language(s), assists in building custom software applications and online systems as well as assist in developing complex customizations.

This position will help create the executable code, system functionality, and user interfaces that will be utilized by end users. The role will assist in developing programmed solutions based on defined requirements that meet business needs and objectives. Develops technical documentation throughout the software development life cycle. Automates custom software platform tasks and services through appropriate tools and scripting. This position is focused on supporting the Salesforce ecosystem or assigned software applications, including but not limited to CRM, Education Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Boomi, and more.

This position also collaborates with senior developers, business systems analysts, project managers, and other team members to contribute to the overall software development process.

• Participates in functional/business unit requirements gathering and analysis.
• Provides technical knowledge of appropriate custom software/system strategies, capabilities, and functionality in requirements gathering sessions.
• Assists in conducting feasibility analysis and technical review for the viability of custom development of the application, software, or service.

• Writes, documents, maintains, and secures effective, efficient, and scalable code following established development standards and templates.
• Utilizes a wide array of methods and programming tools to develop or modify software programs.
• Creates software integrations that optimize system and data resources to meet business unit requirements and enhancement requests.
