About the role
Veritus is a YC-backed startup (S25) reinventing debt collections with AI. We’re a next-gen debt buyer and collections platform built from the ground up using AI agents—including voice agents—to replace expensive, inconsistent human collectors. Our tech-first approach enables dramatically lower costs, better user experiences, and superior compliance.
We’re looking for a Founding Data Engineer to help us build the infrastructure that powers AI-driven decisioning, pricing, and omnichannel outreach s is your chance to join right at the beginning of our journey, at cofounder level, including joining the YCS
25 batch.
What You’ll Do
- Own and build the data platform from the ground up: pipelines, storage, models, and tools
- Work closely with the CEO and founding team to define the data architecture and analytics roadmap
- Ingest, clean, and normalize large volumes of financial and behavioral data from multiple sources (e.g., creditors, servicers, credit bureaus, telephony platforms)
- Enable real-time and batch pipelines for pricing models, risk scoring, outreach sequencing, and compliance monitoring
- Set the data culture and engineering standards for the company
You Might Be a Fit If You
- Have 7–12 years experience as a data engineer, or full-stack data generalist
- Have worked at least one startup and also seen how data flows in fintech or banking (ideally lending, credit, or collections)
- Can move fluidly between strategy and execution—one hour you’re designing architecture, the next you’re writing dbt models or debugging an Airflow DAG
- Are comfortable in early-stage chaos and excited to help scale a data-driven company from day one
- Have strong opinions about data governance, observability, and automation—and the pragmatism to know when to cut corners
