Assists in the instruction and reinforcement of visual and performing arts.
Provides arts instructional guidance to elementary students from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade (PK-6) in the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Program. Assists in implementing the VAPA program’s standards across disciplines such as visual arts, digital arts, music, drama, and dance.

Current VacanciesVarious opportunities exist for permanent, on-call, or long-term substitute assignments. An eligibility list will be used to fill both types based on district needs.
All positions are part-time
, 9.25 months per year, 3 to 6.5 hours daily.
Permanent positions are Monday through Friday and include full benefits for the employee only
. Positions may be located anywhere within district boundaries (Glendale, La Crescenta, Montrose).
Substitute employees are paid a fixed hourly rate. Permanent employees may earn higher rates after completing a 130-day probationary period and may receive annual merit increases up to the maximum.
Responsibilities- Perform visual and performing arts instruction aligned with California State Arts Standards and grade-level standards.
- Supervise large groups of students during arts activities.
- Prepare and manage arts materials and equipment.
- Assist with activity arrangements, displays, and student artwork/performance showcases.
- Oversee classroom behavioral expectations.
- Respond to student inquiries related to arts activities.
- Administer assessments and perform clerical tasks.
- Assist in supervision during field trips and organize culminating events.
- Perform related duties as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Meet “Every Student Succeeds Act” (ESSA) requirements: an Associate’s Degree or 48 semester units from an accredited institution.
- Background experience in Visual and Performing Arts.
- Arts-related coursework or certification.
- Proficiency in a second language.

Selection and RequirementsApplicants will be evaluated periodically. Top candidates will be invited for a technical interview. Candidates must submit proof of TB clearance, fingerprint clearance, and a pre-employment physical. The probationary period is 130 days of paid service.
