Sanitation (2nd Shift) – Performance Pet Products
We are seeking a detailed and driven individual to join our 2nd shift Sanitation team at our pet food cannery in Mitchell, SD. Competitive starting base wage of $19.97/Hr plus $1/Hr night shift differential and regular increases. Full benefits package includes health, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays, 401K match, and more.
ScheduleMonday – Thursday, 4:30 pm – 2:15 am
Friday hours may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Complete sanitation duties as directed by daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
- Tear down and reassemble production equipment based on established SOPs, manually or with a screwdriver.
- Achieve Hazardous Chemical Certification; use appropriate chemicals, hoses, and brushes to sanitize and disinfect production equipment and parts.
- Sweep, mop, squeegee, and sanitize production floors; safely operate a ride‑on floor scrubber.
- Empty, foam, and sanitize oil containers and rendering totes.
- Wipe down production line fencing, overhead pipes, wire racks, and walls.
- Accurately document sanitation efforts and store paperwork for audit purposes.
- Participate in weekly and monthly deep‑cleaning initiatives.
- Keep the Quality Assurance Manager and Shift Supervisor aware of any concerns or issues that arise.
- Maintain positive relationships with others and assist in other areas as requested.
- Follow all company safety policies, practices, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
- Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including environmental and food safety.
- Maintain regular and predictable on‑site attendance.
- Situation may arise where employees temporarily or permanently assume responsibilities not specifically outlined in this job description; additional hours or heavier workload may be requested.
- 1–3 years of sanitation experience in a manufacturing environment is desired; experience in food manufacturing is a plus.
- Ability to pass and maintain Hazardous Chemical Certification.
- Ability to perform tasks independently to ensure quality and food safety policies and procedures are met.
- Strong attention to detail and desire for facility cleanliness.
- Ability to write legibly and maintain accurate sanitation logs.
- Accurately read and understand signs, labels, warnings, and company SOPs.
- Ability to work in a facility that processes multiple proteins including beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, lamb, rabbit, kangaroo, and egg.
- Ability to perform in a safety‑sensitive position.
- Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes.
- Consistently push and/or pull heavy objects.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist level.
- Consistently bend at the knees and/or waist in potentially awkward positions.
- Frequently climb steps and/or ladders up to 10 feet; occasionally be elevated in scissors lifts up to 40 feet if certified.
- Stand up for 100% of the workday.
- Ability to work in restricted spaces.
- Ability to tolerate varying environmental conditions including wet slippery conditions or extreme heat.
