Wastewater Operator

This position is responsible for participating in the operations and maintenance of the wastewater system. Wastewater Operator Certification (Level I, II, or III) is preferred, but applications will also be accepted for non-certified workers who have the ability to become state‑certified when eligible.

Duties include the collection of wastewater samples and conduct laboratory analysis. Service, maintain, and repair storm sewers. Inspect and maintain sewer lift stations, manholes, and catch basins. Respond to after‑hour emergencies.

Minimum qualifications include basic skills typically associated with a high school education and sufficient experience to understand basic wastewater collection system such as an apprenticeship or experience working. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid SD driver’s license. Possession of or ability to readily earn appropriate state‑certified water license when eligible.
