Overview

Founding Middle School Teacher - History role at Alabama State Department of Education. ACCEL teachers work as a team to close the achievement gap for all students in the school, using cutting-edge technology to differentiate lessons and ensure students receive the right content at the right time. Next Generation learning is a core component of the instructional model, with collaboration, training, and feedback to embrace 21st century teaching methods.

Responsibilities
  • Teach five 60-minute class periods of students.
  • Provide small group and one-on-one targeted intervention and support during station rotation within class periods.
  • Participate in regular interim data meetings with team teachers and principal.
  • Engage in four administrative observations and growth plan meetings per year.
  • Participate in 2 hours per week of targeted professional development.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Set and maintain consistent and high academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Keep an accurate record of student performance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of students  records.
  • Engage in weekly coaching meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree
  • Two or more years of teaching experience as a classroom teacher (preferred, not required)
  • Alabama State Educator Certification (preferred, not required)
  • Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students

  • Experience integrating technology into instruction
  • Good problem-solving abilities and creativity
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organization skills
Details
  • Hours:

    7:00AM - 3:00PM daily; student day 7:30AM-2:30PM Monday-Thursday and 7:30AM-12:00PM Friday. Optional evening program for additional compensation (up to 10 hours per week).
  • Each teacher teaches approximately five 60-minute periods per day with ~25 students per class.
Compensation
  • Salary Range:
    As per State Salary Matrix, depending on degree and experience. Bachelor s beginning pay - $41,690 for 187 days. Potential annual bonus pending job performance and funding availability.
