What does this role entail?
ACCEL teachers work as a team to close the achievement gap for all students in the school. Teachers use cutting-edge technology to effectively differentiate lessons to meet the unique needs of learners. They use instructional groupings to ensure students are receiving the right content at the right time. Next Generation learning is a critical component of the instructional model, and ACCEL Academy faculty and staff will support one another through training, feedback, and collaboration to embrace the use of 21st century teaching methods to reach their students.
The RoleACCEL teachers hold primary responsibility for the development of curriculum, the delivery of content, and the growth and success of their students. Each teacher teaches approximately five 60-minute periods per day with an average class size of approximately 25 students. Hours are 7:00AM - 3:00PM daily, with the student day from 7:30AM to 2:30PM (Mon-Thu) and 7:30AM to 12:00PM on Friday.
An evening program is available for additional compensation, with up to 10 hours per week in the evening program.
- Teach five 60-minute class periods of students.
- Provide small group and one-on-one targeted intervention and support to students during station rotation within the class periods.
- Participate in regular interim data meetings with team teachers and principal.
- Engage in 4 administrative observations and growth plan meetings per year.
- Participate in 2 hours per week of targeted professional development.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Set and maintain consistent and high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Keep an accurate record of student performance.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of students' records.
- Engage in weekly coaching meetings.
- Bachelor's degree
- Two or more years of teaching experience as a classroom teacher (preferred, not required)
- Alabama State Educator Certification (preferred, not required)

Salary Range:
As per State Salary Matrix, depending on degree and experience. Bachelor’s beginning pay - $41,690 for 187 days. Additionally, teachers may be eligible for an annual bonus, pending job performance and funding availability.
