Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Robotics Engineer for our Final Assembly Line Engineering Department based in Mobile, AL.
Job OverviewThe Robotics Engineer supports operations needs pertaining to robots and automated industrial assets deployed within the Airbus Mobile manufacturing site. They maintain machines, propose industrial improvements, work closely with engineering principals and Airbus Robotics to monitor status and implement solutions that sustain and increase reliability and efficiency of machines at aircraft production facilities.

- Ensure the continued operation of robotic and automation systems onsite, including preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and continuous improvement.
- Perform root cause analysis of failures and propose remediation in a timely fashion with effective countermeasures.
- Analyze customer feedback including warranty requests and generate prioritized actions to address shortcomings at the Mobile Manufacturing Site.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and machine performance.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs in MMS.
- Perform application programming on specialized platforms with applications in automation and robotics.
- Serve as a liaison between Airbus operations and Airbus Robotics to resolve problems and inquiries.
- Provide basic operator training when necessary.
- Support early concepts of corrective designs and test them with the OEM.
- Help develop a strategy for verification of corrective designs and participate in verification activities.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in applying specialized knowledge.

- Hold self and others accountable and guide/train junior team members.
- Troubleshoot electromechanical issues, using tools such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Perform hands‑on work to maintain robotics and automation.
- Maintain expert product knowledge and application.
- Assist in design/development of new products and tools, supporting engineering design activities within Airbus Operations scope.
- Travel domestically to OEM sites to perform training if needed.
- Maintain service records or documentation of equipment or systems.
- Establish and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Travel required:
20% domestic and international, extended trips to Airbus Robotics HQ, Seattle.
- Eight or more years of relevant experience.
- Four or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Two or more years of relevant experience with a Master’s Degree.
- Troubleshooting electromechanical problems, identifying likely faults across mechanical, electrical or software domains.
- Execute day‑to‑day work safely and independently.
- 4+ years’ experience testing and troubleshooting in robotics or industrial automation.
- Train customers and colleagues in maintenance and operation activities.
- Drive customer satisfaction with responsiveness, quality, and on‑time delivery.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and a tenacious problem solver.
- 5 years industrial experience, preferably robotics industry.
- Proficiency with machine shop tools: drill press, lathe, sanders, band saw.
- Working knowledge of Windows 7 desktop and Linux embedded products.
