As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be part of our Cold Rolling Works Maintenance team.
Base pay range$88,300.00/yr – $/yr
ObjectiveThe purpose of this position is to evaluate, implement and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of stainless steel. The Mechanical Engineer’s primary focus is the continuous improvement of the reliability and mechanical systems at the Cold Rolling Works Facility. Define opportunities for improvement, measure key parameters, analyze acquired data, implement the chosen solution, and control the process to verify optimization and efficiency.
Requirements- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- > 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing facility
- Proven working experience in mechanical engineering projects
- Strong technical aptitude related to rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and interpreting schematics
- Ability to analyze data and trends and identify opportunities through analysis
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing operations and equipment
- Ability to analyze numerical data
- Highly analytical mind and problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and understandably
- Excellent technical skills, including computer-aided experience
- Identify opportunities to improve the safety and reliability of the assets
- Work in concert with the Electrical and Process engineers to identify improvements and implement opportunities for improvement
- Provide technical guidance and training to the mechanical maintenance team members
- Facilitate the identification and/or implementation of best practices and continuous improvement across all teams
- Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Maintain environmental and safety compliance requirements
- Identify safety hazards and opportunities for improvement in safety
- Identify environmental opportunities for improvement
- Develop and deliver training in relevant areas of expertise
- Lead maintenance activities and team members for maintenance outages, shutdowns and daily activities
- Develop LOTO procedures for related area equipment
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs for area-related equipment
- This position requires a hands‑on approach to help team members during planned and unplanned equipment shutdowns
- Use personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
- Climb safely (stairs, ramps) and walk long distances with good balance on uneven terrain or when maneuvering obstacles
- Withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods
- Work in extreme heat
- Work in wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt
- Work in a high‑noise environment requiring hearing protection
- Use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials frequently
- Work in areas with strong magnetic fields
- Perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, lifting, standing, walking, reaching, seeing, moving, and hearing as needed
- Communicate using radios, phones, and/or intercom systems
- Perform physical labor including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. with proper technique
- Safely use power and hand tools
- Safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment, including overhead cranes, for tasks and diagnostics
