Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for an Airframe Structural Liaison Engineer to join our Engineering department based in Mobile, AL.

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges
  • Accountability for approved repair, rework, troubleshooting instruction and design update solutions in front of the design/stress office and authorities (EASA/FAA)
  • Creation, approval and authorization of technical solutions and structure justification reports for repairs/reworks or design updates
  • Representation on behalf of Chief Engineering and design offices of Airbus and design‑to‑build suppliers
  • Interface between Chief Engineering, design office and Manufacturing/Quality Assurance (Operations)
  • Definition of technical solutions during non‑conforming treatment for metallic and composite structure comprising the complete primary/secondary aircraft structure (all Airframe ATA chapters linked to structures design)
  • Creation, approval and monitoring of design corrective actions/improvements and preventive measures (launch of new modifications, drawing updates, design query notes) driving product improvements or non‑conformity eradication
  • Engineering support to FAL US during the complete manufacturing process from section delivery to aircraft ferry flight in all structure related items including engineering presentations for internal and external customers
  • Creation, approval and authorization of temporary aircraft definitions (special instructions) in line with design and airworthiness requirements for testing purposes
  • Presentation of technical explanations/corrective actions to flight test department and to the customer if required (internal and external customers)
  • Perform other duties as assigned and adapted to FAL requirements
Your boarding pass
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical or aircraft construction engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of experience in the aviation industry, preference for Airbus aircraft
  • Capability to train toward and obtain Design Office and Chief Engineering delegations for Commercial Aircraft
  • Experience in design of metallic and/or composite aircraft structure (airframe)
  • Experience on Airbus aircraft
  • Knowledge in fatigue and damage tolerance justification
  • Knowledge of stress calculations/justifications
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials and corrosion protection/prevention
  • Knowledge of repair design and stress principles
  • Knowledge of aircraft configuration management rules
  • Knowledge of Airbus internal procedures, processes and tools
  • Experience with Airbus manuals (Structure Repair Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalog, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and solving problems
  • Eligibility for employment in the US
