Senior Technician

Overview

NETA Field Technician — Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure.

Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad.

• Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switch gear, including:
• Protective relaying and relaying systems
• Circuit Breakers
• Power Transformers
• Current and Potential Transformers
• Meters, Transducers, and Power system metering
• Power Cables
• Grounding Systems
• Motors and Motor Starters
• Station Batteries and Chargers
• Alarm systems and Annunciators
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
• Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended
• Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communicating and interfacing with clients
• Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment
• Always make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has zero tolerance for unsafe practices
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by management

• AAS in Electrical or Electronics Technology or equivalent experience in the high voltage industry
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the high voltage industry
• NETA Certification (III, or IV) required
• Power DB knowledge a plus
• Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
• Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical)
• Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
• Skills:
• Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
• Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
• Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
• Effective oral and written communications
• Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
• Knowledge of drafting standards
• Working in a team environment
• Communicating effectively with co-workers

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Pre-employment drug testing and random drug screenings are required
• Pre-employment criminal background check
• Must be able to pass a physical exam
• Must be open to travel, with a minimum of 50%
• Valid driver’s license required, along with a clean driving record that must be maintained
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as well as occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
