Job Description

Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site (MMS) is looking for a Flight line Avionics Technician to join our final phase team in Mobile, AL.

Your Working Environment

The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft is located on the Mobile Aeroplex  facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019.

Your Challenges
  • Responsible for performing Functional Test Procedure (FTP), Pre & Post Flight inspection, and preparing built aircraft for test flight and delivery readiness.
  • Operate, test, troubleshoot, repair and inspect aircraft systems using approved aircraft data.
  • Proficiently operate and understand a wide variety of test equipment and tooling.
  • Interpret technical manuals, drawings and engineering data to support tasks.
  • Complete assigned tasks within the allocated man-hour budgets and meet safety, quality and cost guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform aircraft system Functional Test Procedure (FTP) / Pre / Post flight Daily Inspection (DI) check list and prepare built aircraft for test flight readiness.
  • Learn new tasks and techniques in troubleshooting aircraft systems and support Flight line operations at Airbus FAL Mobile Flight line Organization.
  • Perform and follow level 1 troubleshooting, document findings precisely IAW recommended instruction; conduct integrated systems testing, calibration, alignment, troubleshooting and repair of airborne electronic flight control, navigational and heating systems.
  • Perform final tuning, alignment or calibration of electronic systems and subassemblies; troubleshoot to determine malfunction and corrective action.
  • Perform post-dock maintenance daily checklist / safety and security / incoming inspection.
  • Perform day-to-day planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance activities.
  • Perform pre-induction first flight configuration / incoming inspection of cabin interior, cockpit, electronic bays to ensure safety and security before first flight.
  • Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies using circuit testers or volt meters.
  • Verify and upgrade to the latest version of aircraft avionic software.
  • Work closely with the systems engineer to interpret flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
  • Maintain close working relationship with the assigned lead regarding schedules, priorities, parts availability, supplies and tools, and special instructions as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
  • Basic knowledge of electrical/mechanical theory and aircraft-specific tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers and support equipment.
  • Knowledge of aircraft sealing techniques and related materials; ability to prepare, seal and test as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret approved aircraft diagrams, charts, schematics and maintenance procedures (AMM/IPC/AWD/SB).
  • Participate in process improvement, root cause analysis, 5S, and related tools to improve workload, quality, safety and cycle time.
  • Participate in team daily SQCDP projects and daily tool / FOD management.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in outdoor environments.
  • Ability to train other aircraft technicians with technical knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain close working relationship with the lead regarding schedules, priorities, etc.
  • Use standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment; operate jigs/fixtures with required licenses where applicable (e.g., Crane, Cherry-picker, Fork lift, Lifting platform, Loading platform).
  • Knowledge of regulations regarding confined space entry, respirator use, and safety.
  • Ability to work under pressure due to responsibilities.
Qualified Experience / Education / Training
  • 3 years’ experience with Applied Science in Avionics, A&P, or FCC license.
  • Ability to obtain a Repairman Certificate.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Willingness to work rotation shift schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport for unrestricted travel.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
  • 5 years minimum aviation experience, preferably in an aviation manufacturing or MRO environment.
  • EASA/TCCA Regulations.
  • Valid A&P or FCC License.
Physical Requirements
  • Vision sufficient to read computer screens and identify individuals for safe interactions.
  • Hearing sufficient for conversations and safety alerts.
  • Speaking ability to communicate in person and via electronic means.
