Air Traffic Control Radar Installation Technician
Crown is searching for Air Traffic Control Radar Installation Technicians with experience installing and/or maintaining digital Primary Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) Systems such as FAA ASR-9, ASR-11, and FAA Secondary Radar Systems, including ATCBI-6/Mode‑S or comparable military radar systems. Military personnel with radar experience are also eligible to apply.
The field installation and optimization positions may require up to 100% travel.
Responsibilities- Install, test, and debug radar systems and related equipment to ensure proper functioning and accuracy.
- Evaluate existing radar infrastructure and install new equipment for air traffic control systems, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
- Assemble and install electronic equipment, conduit, cable ladders, RF wave guides, phased heliax cabling, GPS antennas, and signal cabling according to Site Design Drawings.
- Verify signal cable performance (phasing, power out, insertion loss, VSWR).
- Support optimization teams by following approved test plans to meet FAA commissioning criteria.
- Associate degree in electronics or electronic engineering technology, or equivalent military/FAA training certificates.
- Minimum 4 years experience in radar signal processing, digital/analog circuits, microprocessors, and antenna performance for primary/secondary radar systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators).
- Strong understanding of electronic principles and computer systems used in radar technology.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and software, read schematics and flowcharts.
- Associate degree in electronics or electronic engineering technology, or equivalent military/FAA training certificates.
- Minimum 10 years experience in radar signal processing, digital/analog circuits, microprocessors, and antenna performance for primary/secondary radar systems.
- Team lead for equipment installation; supervise and coordinate installation across U.S. locations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and software, reading electronic schematics and flowcharts.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and signal generators.
